Mickey Walker

I am delighted to return to the board as Sandpiper of the Year.  It has been an honor and a privilege to be associated with Sandpipers since 1984 when I joined as a Provisional. I was on several committees during my six year commitment as an Active Member. Over the years I was fortunate enough to participate in Meals on Wheels, Sugarplum Tree, Holiday Gift Baskets and my personal favorite was the Dental Clinic. I was very involved with Design House and became Design House Chairman in 1990 with my dear friend, Betty Herring. I also had the privilege to be on the Board as Design House Liaison for its last 2 years.

Sandpipers has been such a part of my life and my family’s. To be a part of an organization that inspires women and children
to become the best they can be is so fulfilling to me. To be able to give back to the community with all the resources we have has been an opportunity I am so grateful to have been a part of. I have made lifelong friendships that I cherish, and am looking forward to serving as this year’s Sandpiper of the Year and working with all the wonderful women who so freely give of themselves to serve the community and make it a better place for all.
