I first heard about Sandpipers from my husband’s late grandmother, who had joined the organization in 1953. She used to tell me stories about the friends she made through volunteer work she did in the community. When I moved to the South Bay in 2017 after getting engaged, I didn’t realize the organization was still intact. For years I had tried to find volunteer work I was passionate about, but nothing felt very personal. Shortly after my husband and I moved into our home in early 2018, a neighbor told me she was involved in Sandpipers. I decided to attend the Prospective Member Reception and was quickly impressed by the organization’s history and measurable impact. I was surprised to learn how much need there was in my very own community. Throughout my time in Sandpipers, I have seen firsthand how if a group of strong, smart, creative and motivated women from all walks of life can come together with a common goal – nothing is impossible. I am incredibly proud to be a Sandpiper and humbled to be on the Board again this year. I cannot wait to see what we can do together!
