Active Volunteers

Our Active members are an impressive group not just in numbers, but also for the significant impact they have on our community year-round.

Our Provisionals (first-year members), Actives, and Junior Associates (members who have been involved for five years) are the backbone of Sandpipers. Whether it’s by working together to develop and host successful fundraisers or by working hands-on directly with our community, our volunteers work on committees and in leadership roles to achieve the mission of Sandpipers. They continue our Founders’ vision of serving our community with charitable and philanthropic deeds made possible with their ongoing fundraising efforts.

Associate Volunteers

Our Associates have a long-standing tradition of assisting our community. After years of volunteering as Active members, they remain involved and continue to strengthen our organization by sharing their wisdom, knowledge, and dedication with the rest of the organization.

Associates fundraise for community grants to benefit our agency partners directly and participate in charitable and philanthropic endeavors with a particular focus on our senior population. The continuing contributions of our Associates are invaluable in achieving the goals of Sandpipers.

Youth Volunteers (Juniors)

Founded in 1961, Sandpiper Juniors was founded as a mother-daughter affiliation with Sandpipers. Back then, it was known as “Sand Debs,” and membership was extended to daughters of Sandpipers who wanted to participate in community service.

Sandpiper Juniors now includes girls from South Bay high schools. The organization has grown in number and strength, with over 120 active members committed to fundraising to benefit their philanthropic goals and community service initiatives focusing on children.

With guidance and mentoring from Sandpiper Advisors and a liaison, these young adults thrive in an atmosphere that encourages independence, teamwork, and initiative and cultivates leadership skills and a spirit of volunteerism to accomplish the mission and goals of Sandpiper Juniors.

Youth Volunteers (Pipers)

Founded in 2018, Sandpiper Pipers is a philanthropic group for middle school-age girls and their mothers under the Sandpipers’ umbrella.

The seventh and eighth graders are empowered to make their own decisions and are encouraged to better their community and the lives of those less fortunate in the South Bay.

With approximately 50 middle schoolers and Mom Mentors, they are committed to philanthropic and community outreach and service projects with guidance and support provided by Pipers’ Class Leaders and a Sandpipers Liaison.
